It's no secret that mental health can sadly deteriorate as we age, this could be from a variety of factors ranging from decline in physical health, social life or a lack of sense of purpose. This Mental Health Awareness Day, we take a look at some of the ways we make every effort to keep our residents loving every day at brighterkind.

brighterkind wins Employee Engagement of the Year award at Personnel Today Awards.
The award recognises brighterkind’s efforts in employee engagement and implementing positive change throughout the business.
brighterkind has built an extensive Learning and Development team and positive culture. This began with the recruitment of more than 300 volunteers across all of its care homes, self-titled ‘Pacesetters’, who deliver values-based cultural messages and create fun at work.

Nostalgic family favourites are brought to life as we join the Fairy Godmother on an enchanting journey through dark magical woodlands and enchanting forests.
INGREDIENTS
• 750ml bottle red wine
• 1 large cinnamon stick,
or 2 small ones
• 2 star anise
• 4 cloves
• 2 strips lemon zest,
pared using a vegetable peeler
• 4 tbsp caster sugar
• 100ml sloe gin
INGREDIENTS
• 1 large jar of mincemeat (about 600g)
• 2 satsumas, segmented
• 1 apple, finely chopped
• zest 1 lemon 
• little icing sugar, for dusting
