To celebrate International Friendship Day that happened on 30th July, we are happy to announce the launch of the brighterkind POETRY CHALLENGE 2019.

Involving residents, relatives and team members, our homes are each challenged to come up with a poem on the theme of Friendship And What It Means To Me. This amazing opportunity to work together builds on the skills and knowledge from the recent Culture Workshops we've introduced for the Magic Moments Club team.

Why not share your love for books and create a book club or an author appreciation society? Ask residents to book swap and read excerpts from a sample of their top ten books. Reading aloud and assigning everyone a character can be fun. Who is the most popular writer of residents at your home? Local authors might also like to hold a book fair at your home today - invite them in to read, display, sign and sell books to the community in your own mini literary festival.

brighterkind  residents and care teams from homes across the North have taken part in a ‘Just Bowl’ Inter-Home Championship event, held last week at The Granby in Harrogate. The event, which is part of an initiative to increase participation in bowls in the community, adapts the traditional game of bowls to be played on carpet in a care home setting.
