Jennie's book launch at Henleigh Hall for Parkinson’s UK

Our talented resident Jennie, who lives here at Henleigh Hall Care Home, has written a book; ‘The Tin Can Tommy Tree’, to raise money for Parkinson’s UK.

Jennie, who has lived with Parkinson’s disease for the last 13 years, decided to write a compilation of her treasured memories from her younger days and named the book after a favourite childhood game she played under a tree she nicknamed.

Community fun at The Lawns on Red Nose Day

Red Nose Day was full of fun & games here at The Lawns Care Home and we were delighted to be joined by our friends from Community Action Partnership Leicester.

We enjoyed chatting to our guests over a delicious lunch served by our Chefs Wayne and Sven before heading into the garden to take part in an afternoon of games in the sunshine.

brighterkind residents take part in UK’s largest tea tasting for National Tea Day

In celebration of National Tea Day 2021, we decided to bring some extra TLC into brighterkind care homes by launching our Tea Lovers Club as part of our Magic Moments Club activities programme.

Our first Tea Lovers Club event saw residents in all brighterkind’s UK and Jersey care homes taking part in the UK’s biggest known tea tasting in a bid to find a new tea blend by residents’ popular vote.

Joy at Henleigh Hall as families are reunited

The team at Henleigh Hall Care Home were delighted to welcome visitors back inside to be reunited with their loved ones this week.

First through the door to the home was Roy, who was celebrating 60 years of marriage to his wife, resident Mo, who has lived at Henleigh Hall for over 4 years. Although the couple have kept in touch via video calls and socially distanced garden visits they haven’t been able to have physical contact with each other since last March before the lockdown.

A fairy tale tea party at The Granby

Once upon a time at The Granby Care Home, residents celebrated World Book Day with a storytelling event and fairy tale themed tea party.

After enjoying a screening of a Disney classic, team members dressed up as characters from Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast and led a reminiscence session asking residents to share memories of their favourite childhood tales.
