National holidays

Celebrating national holidays is great fun in our care homes, whether it’s Christmas, Easter, Valentine’s Day or World Book Day. Find out more in our blog posts below.

Celebrating the Year of the Ox

Residents at brighterkind Care Homes welcomed the Year of the Ox by celebrating the Chinese New Year with an array of exciting Magic Moments Club activities.

By unleashing our creative flair through making Chinese lanterns and brushing up on our chopstick skills, we were transported to the heart of China.

Resident June from Westbury Court Care Home said: "I can remember making Chinese lanterns from newspapers when I was younger, but we didn’t get to decorate them with such pretty things!"

A Christmas message for the festive season

During the festive season, brighterkind residents across the UK will be treated to seasonal activities and events as our care homes fill with the magic and joy of Christmas.

Of course this year’s pandemic means that the usual festive trips and traditional community Christmas events can’t take place in person, but we have come up with new ideas to create a magical experience for all our residents.

Celebrating St Andrew's Day

Residents of St Margeret's Care Home celebrated their heritage for St Andrew’s Day.

We organised lots of fun activities which were all inspired by different aspects of our culture. We kicked off the celebrations with our arts and crafts session which got our residents to design their own tartan. Our residents did this by cutting strips of coloured card and weaving them together to create an eye-catching sett.
