Freda is our resident poet here at The Lawns Care Home and we were delighted when she shared one of her poems with us. Titled ‘May Pilgrimage’, Freda was inspired to write it following a visit to Scargill while on a pilgrimage with her church in 2002.
We’ve been as busy as ever this month enjoying entertainment and events as part of our Magic Moments Club activities programme. Bonfire Night went with a bang and we’ve also enjoyed arts & crafts, singing & dancing, trips out and lots of opportunities to have great fun together. Think Halloween is just for children? Think again! Residents at brighterkind care homes across the UK have been enjoying lots of frightful fun this Halloween with creepy crafts, ghostly games, bewitching baking and plenty of enchanting entertainment.

Congratulations to all our wonderful bakers who competed in the finals of The Great Four Seasons Group Bake Off. The judges had a difficult (but very tasty!) job deciding on the winner and the results are in:

Congratulations to Valerie Kelly, Chef Manager at brighterkind's Houndswood House Care Home, who has won ‘Our Care Catering Hero Award 2022’ at the National Association of Care Catering (NACC) Awards.
The awards ceremony took place on 6th October at The East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham to recognise and celebrate excellence, innovation, dedication and outstanding contribution within the care catering sector.
Residents at brighterkind care homes across the UK will be taking part in rehearsals with bespoke tutorials provided by Rock Choir, the UK’s largest contemporary choir, ahead of live performances before an audience of family, friends and members of the local community, throughout the autumn.
