Dancing Queen May gets a ‘Strictly’ surprise from Anton du Beke on her 102nd Birthday!

Wheaton Aston Court Care Home, Stafford

“I’m not looking for a man, but if I was…. he would be lovely!”

There was much excitement here at Wheaton Aston Court Care Home when our very own Dancing Queen, resident May, celebrated her 102nd birthday and received messages of congratulation from the cast of Strictly Come Dancing.

May was a dancer and dance teacher all of her working life and is a big fan of 'Strictly' so was absolutely over the moon to receive a video message from Anton du Beke and a birthday card signed by the cast of the hugely popular TV show.

In his message, which was filmed at Elstree Studios during a break in rehearsals, Anton says, “Hi May, I just wanted to wish you a very very happy birthday and look, I’ve even put my frock on for you, very posh! Hope you have a great, great day, much love.” Anton then blows May a great big kiss!

May enjoyed telling her son and daughter all about her birthday surprise during a video call with them and was delighted when a delivery of beautiful cupcakes arrived for her, homemade by her granddaughter.

Magic Moments Club Coordinator Laura, who helped to organise the surprise said, “It was fantastic that Anton and the cast of Strictly helped us to make May’s birthday so special, we are all very grateful.”

May has enjoyed watching Anton’s video many, many, many times and laughed “I’m not looking for a man, but if I was…. he would be lovely!”
