Residents, family and team members at an Andover care home are celebrating after it was praised by inspectors.
Ashbourne Court Care Home, in Salisbury Road, has been rated ‘outstanding’ by the healthcare regulator the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
The home, which cares for up to 64 residents and is part of brighterkind, specialises in residential and nursing care, and those living with dementia and end-of-life care.
After inspectors visited the care home on June 17 and 19 it was rated in five key areas with an overall rating of ‘outstanding’.
The home received an ‘outstanding’ rating in two categories - responsive and well-led - as well as being rated ‘good’ in the caring, safe and effective categories.
It comes almost three years after the care home was rated as ‘good’, with all at the facility celebrating its latest achievement.
The CQC report published late last month said: “People received person-centred care that truly recognised their individuality, exceeded expectations and achieved positive outcomes. There was a focus on providing activities which were meaningful to people and which provided enjoyment and occupation.”
The home was praised by the CQC as staff were recognised to be “exceptionally kind, caring and compassionate” and “were well trained and well supported and had the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles and meet their responsibilities”.
Inspectors also said that the home benefited from a “well led service and the registered manager and deputy manager had shaped a culture where people were at the heart of the service”.
It added: “People and their relatives were treated as partners and were actively consulted and involved on an ongoing basis about their care and wider issues within the home. Staff felt valued and were well motivated to provide the very best care to people.”
Rajesh Ayyappan, manager of brighterkind’s Ashbourne Court Care Home, said: “We are thrilled to have received an outstanding rating by the Care Quality Commission inspection.
“This is the ultimate accolade, which highlights the team’s dedicated work. We always have put our residents’ interests and wellbeing at the heart of everything we do and we are honoured to have our efforts recognised by the commission.”
