Residents at Flowerdown Care Home have recently enjoyed a week-long celebration of nature as part of our Naturewatch activities.
Throughout May, brighterkind homes across the UK have been getting close to nature and the great outdoors with their own ‘Naturewatch’ themed events. From animal visits, to getting their hands dirty gardening, to welcoming insects to their home-made bug hotels, residents have enjoyed learning about the creatures and nature surrounding us.
Here at Flowerdown we arranged a week of different nature-themed activities ranging from nature themed quizzes and flower / tree identification; to planting bulbs and seeds, making our very own Hedgehog Houses and Bumble Bee nests and an animal sanctuary to help our garden flourish and make it more inviting for local wildlife.
Katie, Magic Moments Club Co-ordinator said, "Here at Flowerdown we are surrounded by lots of wildlife and open space. One of our residents' favourite pastimes is to watch the wildlife in our lovely gardens so we focused on activities that would hopefully help bring in more wildlife into our gardens, the residents and staff alike thoroughly enjoyed themselves!"
At Flowerdown Care Home, we believe in living life to the full. That’s why we’re passionate about creating vibrant, stimulating activities that will help our residents to love every day. We call them ‘Magic Moments’.
Every brighterkind care home now has a Magic Moments Club which provides a vast range of activities and fun things to do that are open to all of our residents. The idea behind Magic Moments is that just because someone moves into a care home doesn't mean that the things they love doing should suddenly stop – quite the contrary, we believe our residents should have the opportunity to love every day, by doing the things that they have always loved as well as trying new things along the way.
