Woodbury House Care Home had a fantastic Christmas Day as everyone was feeling festive and joyful.
Here at Woodbury House we are like one big happy family, so we all had an excellent Christmas together and it was lovely seeing everyone with a big smile on their faces!
Resident, Brenda said: “The family Christmas atmosphere was very special for us.”
We kicked off our Christmas Day celebrations by unwrapping presents. Our residents received lots of lovely gifts and they were very touched that that their loved ones gave them so thoughtful gifts.
Resident, June said: “I love Christmas and I was looking forward to unwrapping my gifts. It was so worth the wait!”
Magic Moments Coordinator, Anna said: “Seeing the joy on our residents’ faces while unwrapping their gifts was priceless! I am so glad that I could accompany our residents at this special time. We had a fantastic time and although it was so different from the previous Christmas, it will be permanently remembered by us as it was such a brilliant day!”
Throughout the day, we kept our residents connected with their families to celebrate the most wonderful day of the year. Families enjoyed socially distanced visits, video calls, phone calls or they sent lovely text messages and cards. These special interactions filled our home with joy, laughter and Christmas cheer.
Resident, Vera said: “The opportunity to talk to my daughter and see her during the video chat meant a lot to me. For a moment, I felt that I had her right next to me!”
When our residents sat down for their Christmas dinner, everyone enjoyed pulling crackers and reading out some classic Christmas jokes, which made all of us giggle. Our residents then tucked into their delicious meal, which everyone said: “hats off to the chef!”
We continued our festivities on Boxing Day by drinking hot chocolate whilst watching Christmas movies and listening to classic Christmas songs.
Team member, Vilma said: “We made a lot of effort to make Christmas Day special for our residents and I think we have succeeded! All the smiles on their faces makes it so worth it!”
