A resident cut the ribbon to mark the opening of a new addition at The Lawns Care Home: their very own bar.
Joyce enjoys a good tipple and suggested it would be nice to have a bar here, so that she could have a choice of drinks in the evenings while she watches her films.
Home Manager Sam Towse thought this was great idea, and so the team managed to turn one of our large display cupboards into a drinks cabinet/bar. We fitted optics, and have filled it with a wide range of drinks including lager, gin, whisky, as well as bar snacks to sample with the drinks.
We held a grand opening with Joyce doing the honours cutting the ribbon, and she said “let’s get this bar open!” Afterwards she had a well-deserved lager, whilst other residents and friends joined in and enjoyed their favourite tipple.
Jackie Burden, Magic Moments Club Coordinator said, “Joyce is quite a character, she was so impressed with the bar, and could not believe the variety of drinks we had! Residents have a nice bar now, to enjoy drinks with family and friends.”
At The Lawns Care Home we believe in living life to the full. That’s why we’re passionate about creating vibrant, stimulating activities that will help our residents to love every day. We call them ‘Magic Moments’.
Every brighterkind home now has a Magic Moments Club which provides a vast range of activities and fun things to do that are open to all of our residents. The idea behind Magic Moments is that just because someone moves into a care home doesn't mean that the things they love doing should suddenly stop – quite the contrary, we believe our residents should have the opportunity to love every day, by doing the things that they have always loved as well as trying new things along the way.
