To celebrate Deaf Awareness Week here at Westbury Court Care Home, our Maintenance Man Adrian taught our residents sign language.
Adrian was born deaf and has since been using sign language to communicate. With the help of his interpreter, Adrian gave the residents a quick guide of the alphabet and some every day words such as ‘hello, goodbye, please and thank you.’
Residents loved learning sign and asked Adrian some questions, he told them about his school days and what it was like growing up being deaf.
Everyone really enjoyed learning sign language and to finish off the session we enjoyed a brew and cake.
