On 17th of October, Kingston Care Home in Surrey enjoyed their Bake Off and Karaoke Day for the Wow Factor – a special talent showcase to celebrate the talents of their residents and team members.
The first event was the Bake Off, where the residents enjoyed baking cupcakes ginger biscuits. Once all the bakes were ready, they shared them with their visitors whilst having tea and coffee and looking forward to the main event.
Then it was time for the karaoke show. Residents, family, friends, and those who would like to be famous for once in their life attended the event. The room was immediately filled with spectators and those who are very enthusiastic to sing and share their talent on the karaoke machine. Everybody enjoyed a performance from Team Members Lito (Maintenance) and Nurse Cynthia Punzalan, and Cynthia brought residents and visitors on stage for a good sing-along!
Magic Moments Club Co-ordinator Edna Cruickshank said, “It was a lovely afternoon and everybody was excited to get a chance to be a one-day superstar! Before the day ended they were already looking forward to the next karaoke event!”
At Kingston Care Home we believe in living life to the full. That’s why we’re passionate about creating vibrant, stimulating activities that will help our residents to love every day. We call them ‘Magic Moments’.
Every brighterkind home now has a Magic Moments Club which provides a vast range of activities and fun things to do that are open to all of our residents. The idea behind Magic Moments is that just because someone moves into a care home doesn't mean that the things they love doing should suddenly stop – quite the contrary, we believe our residents should have the opportunity to love every day, by doing the things that they have always loved as well as trying new things along the way.
Kingston Care Home is located in Kingston-upon-Thames, Surrey, and provides nursing care, palliative care, residential care, and respite care.
