Science experiments at Woodbury House

Woodbury House Care Home, Swallowfield, experiments

Residents of Woodbury House Care Home become chemists for the day as they made a series of exciting experiments!

We kicked off our experimental activity by completing a chemist set, which was a lot of fun but we all thought we could make more exciting creations.

By using water, oil, vinegar, balloons, baking soda and dyes we were able to create some magical experiments! We decided to firstly make lava lamps and we let our resident pick the colours. Everyone loved them and we felt like we were back in the 60's!

Resident, Liz said: “I liked the lava lamp and all the colours, it was amazing!”

We also whipped up a concoction to create an ocean in a bottle and a self-inflating balloon. Everyone was impressed with their skills and our experiments. We all agreed we'll have to make more experiments in the future.

Resident, Evelyn said: “It was unlike anything else, a very nice change from the usual activities.”

Magic Moments Coordinator, Anna said: “A surprised expression followed by a big smile and a laugh - that was the standard response to a few physico-chemical experiments by the residents. We will definitely do it again, and more than once.”
