Residents and team members at The Lawns Care Home have held a raffle to raise funds for the Rotary Club of Oadby Memory Café at St Paul’s Church.
Home Manager, Marie and Chef, Wayne, presented the cheque for £98 to Mandy Penfold and Philip Burrell of The Rotary Club of Oadby, who run the café.
The Memory Café enables people living with dementia and their carers to meet up in a warm relaxing atmosphere and engage socially with people in similar situations. During the morning, refreshments are provided alongside a range of dementia friendly activities, including arts and crafts, games, puzzles, singing and reminiscing.
Mandy, said: “We really appreciate the donation The Lawns Care home made to the Memory Café as it enables us to keep the cost down and offer a wide range of activities to our members.”
The café runs on the second Tuesday of the month from 10.30- 12.30pm at The Barnabas Centre, St Paul's Church, Hamble Road, Oadby. The first session is free and then costs £2.50 per person which includes refreshments. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
