"We all had such a wonderful time and it was really special to celebrate Diwali together.”
Residents and team members at Ashbourne Court Care Home had a great time celebrating Diwali this year.
The whole home prepared for the annual festival of lights by making colourful lanterns and bunting to decorate the lounge and Chef prepared a selection of treats originating from Asia including Laddoo and Jalebi.
Team members dressed in beautiful jewelled saris and taught residents some traditional dance moves to the sounds of Bollywood Bhangra songs.
Residents experienced Mehndi for the first time, otherwise known as henna, and team members painted intricate patterns on their hands which is associated with positive spirits and good luck.
Magic Moments Club Assistant Kay said, “Diwali is a very important festival for many members of the team here and our residents loved learning more about the celebrations and getting involved."
Residents Muriel and Alan enjoyed trying out some of the dance moves and Alan said, “You all look so beautiful, thank you for such a fantastic day.”
Carer Nanu said, “It was certainly a day to remember. The atmosphere in the home was tremendous; we all had such a wonderful time and it was really special to celebrate Diwali together.”
