In celebration of National Tea Day 2021, we decided to bring some extra TLC into brighterkind care homes by launching our Tea Lovers Club as part of our Magic Moments Club activities programme.

Our first Tea Lovers Club event saw residents in all brighterkind’s UK and Jersey care homes taking part in the UK’s biggest known tea tasting in a bid to find a new tea blend by residents’ popular vote.

On the tasting menu were three blends specially crafted for our residents by the family-run business, Tea From The Manor and included a caffeine-free Chamomile & Rose, alongside more traditional black teas; Blue Lady and Rose Congou.

Many homes, including The Lawns and Kingston, held a tea party in honour of HM The Queen’s 95th birthday and at Woodbury House, residents enjoyed activities including a word search and quiz, all with a tea theme. At Meyrick Rise, residents read their tea leaves and saw elephants for luck and good health!

Resident Patricia at The Granby Care Home said: “A good cup of tea is all you need to lift your spirits. We drink tea all day long and we’ve lived long enough to know there’s nothing it can’t make better.”

Once all the votes are counted, the winning blend from our tea tasting event will be launched across all our care homes and we’re all looking forward to sharing our new favourite brew with family and friends in our communi’tea’!
