"Many of our residents have visited Buxton throughout their lifetime, so it is very special to bring them back to a town which holds such fond memories for them.”
Residents at Lawton Manor Care Home enjoyed a trip out to beautiful Buxton recently as part of our home’s Wishing Well programme.
Our day began with a scrumptious picnic in the Pavilion Gardens which date back to 1871 and it was lovely being outside in the sunshine surrounded by the Victorian splendour of the historic spa town.
After a stroll around the grounds we boarded the miniature train and enjoyed views of the 23 acres of magnificent landscaped gardens.
A spot of retail therapy in the lovely gift shops followed and then we headed to the Pavilion Café to enjoy tea and cakes and a chat about our super day out.

brighterkind runs their Wishing Well programme in all of its 70 care homes. Residents are encouraged to make a wish to experience something new or revisit an activity or place they’ve enjoyed in the past and our Magic Moments Club Team arrange for it to happen. Our Magic Moments Clubs provide a vast range of vibrant, stimulating activities that help our residents to love every day. Just because someone moves into a care home doesn't mean that the things they love doing should suddenly stop – quite the contrary, we believe our residents should have the opportunity to do the things that they have always loved as well as trying new things along the way.
