Rubbing shoulders with royalty as Prince Charles comes to town!

Ross Court Care Home, Herefordshire-Waving our flags to welcome HRH Prince Charles to town

“It was a wonderful experience, although I didn’t get to ask Prince Charles if we could have a tour of his garden at Highgrove!”

Residents at Ross Court Care Home were delighted to be invited by the Mayor of Ross to attend the launch of The Gilpin 2020 Festival in Ross-on-Wye, opened by HRH Prince Charles.

Next year’s festival will celebrate the 250th anniversary of artist William Gilpin taking a two-day tour of the Wye Valley in 1770 and promote the town’s role as the birthplace of British tourism.

We had front row seats and wheelchair spaces reserved for us so we could see all the action which kicked off with the Ross Town Band and the children of Kyrle High School Choir singing.

When Prince Charles arrived he lit a torch to mark the festival launch and enjoyed a taste of locally-brewed ale. After chatting to some of the town’s residents he made an appearance on the Market House balcony to wave to the hundreds of people who had come into town to see him.

The event attracted lots of local press and our resident Phyllis who is almost 102 years old, was interviewed by Central News and appeared on their TV coverage. It really made her feel like a celebrity!

Phyllis said “It was a wonderful experience, although I didn’t get to ask Prince Charles if we could have a tour of his garden at Highgrove!”

Magic Moments Club Coordinator Clare said; “All our residents loved being at the event and felt privileged to have attended. It was wonderful to see a member of the Royal Family visit our hometown.”

At Ross Court we believe in living life to the full. That’s why we’re passionate about creating vibrant, stimulating activities that will help our residents to love every day. We call them ‘Magic Moments’.

Every brighterkind home now has a Magic Moments Club which provides a vast range of activities and fun things to do that are open to all of our residents.

The idea behind Magic Moments is that just because someone moves into a care home doesn't mean that the things they love doing should suddenly stop – quite the contrary, we believe our residents should have the opportunity to love every day, by doing the things that they have always loved as well as trying new things along the way.

Ross Court Care Home is located in Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire and provides residential care and respite care.
