“We look forward to the school’s visit every year, the girls are so talented and the origami sculptures are always a hit with the residents who are absolutely fascinated by how a small square of paper can be folded into such beautiful works of art!”
Residents and team at Tewkesbury Fields Care Home recently enjoyed a visit from school pupils who have come all the way from Japan!
Each year, a group of students from the Shizuoka-Futaba School in Japan visit Tewkesbury Fields as part of their UK tour. The group were shown around our lovely home by Sinead, our Magic Moments Club Assistant, before spending some time in the Bushley Lounge with our residents.
The residents look forward to the visit as the girls show them the art of paper folding and make lots of fantastic little models and sculptures. This year the pupils also wrote some of the residents names in Japanese for them to keep as a momento of the visit, and sang traditional songs.
We had a lovely afternoon, and our Magic Moments Club Co-ordinator Linda gave the girls a small present to thank them for visiting and entertaining the residents, we look forward to hosting another group of pupils from the school next year.

At Tewkesbury Fields we believe in living life to the full. That’s why we’re passionate about creating vibrant, stimulating activities that will help our residents to love every day. We call them ‘Magic Moments’.
Every brighterkind home now has a Magic Moments Club which provides a vast range of activities and fun things to do that are open to all of our residents. The idea behind Magic Moments is that just because someone moves into a care home doesn't mean that the things they love doing should suddenly stop – quite the contrary, we believe our residents should have the opportunity to love every day, by doing the things that they have always loved as well as trying new things along the way.
