Our virtual afternoon tea with The Mayor of Wokingham Town

The Berkshire Care Home, Wokingham-Wokingham Town Mayor, Cllr Tony Lack giving residents a virtual tour of the Town Hall

“I was honoured to meet the Mayor and Mayoress and we even had afternoon tea with them through the screen – isn’t technology wonderful!”

Residents at The Berkshire Care Home enjoyed meeting the new Mayor and Mayoress of Wokingham Town for the first time during a virtual afternoon tea recently.

During the Zoom call, The Mayor, Councillor Tony Lack and his wife The Mayoress, Claire Lack, gave us a tour of Wokingham Town Hall including the Main Hall, Annexe and Council Chamber and talked about its history. We were thrilled to see the Silver Mace and the Mayoral robes, hat and Badge of Office.

Even though we couldn’t be there at The Town Hall in person, afternoon tea was still a grand affair as The Mayor had kindly arranged for a selection of delicious cupcakes to be delivered to our home for everyone to enjoy with a cup of tea as we asked questions and chatted.

Resident Michael said, “I was honoured to meet the Mayor and Mayoress who kindly showed us around the Town Hall which I’ve never visited before. They showed us all their special regalia and we even had afternoon tea with them through the screen – isn’t technology wonderful!”
