“Our residents were transfixed throughout the show."
Residents at The Granby Care Home enjoyed a showcase of ‘Music Legends’ with a special performance by students from Harrogate High School.
The students from the Dance and Drama Department – ages 11-17 – performed their Showcase of Dance and Song called ‘Musical Legends’ in the Crystal Room for our residents.
We have an ongoing relationship with Harrogate High School, as they are located right next door to our home.
Magic Moments Club Co-ordinator Briony made the link with Community and Events Officer at the School who put her in touch with the head of their Dance and Drama Department to arrange the performance.
The girls were preparing for a school show so what better way to hone their acts that with a live audience at The Granby!
Briony, Magic Moments Club Co-ordinator said, “Building on our close relationship with Harrogate High School, we were delighted to host the first showing of the Dance and Drama Students annual performance. The sheer delight on the faces of both our residents and the children was evidence enough that the ongoing relationship is very worthwhile! It was certainly a memorable afternoon for our residents.”
Resident Ivy said “The young ladies were so talented! They were marvellous - what lovely voices.”
Les said “I really enjoyed it. It’s not something I’d normally think about going to, but I was pleasantly surprised - it was a really nice change!”
Karen, Manager said “Our residents were transfixed throughout the show. The Granby is proud of its links with our community. Our Magic Moments Team endeavour to engage with young people in particular, as it is so beneficial for young and old alike. We aim to ensure that every moment matters for our residents. The partnership with Harrogate High School makes this all the more possible.”
