“I really enjoyed watching the tennis and having strawberries & cream, I can’t remember the last time I did this with all my friends.”
Here at Hungerford Care Home our residents are enjoying watching the Wimbledon Tennis Championships so we decided to throw a special ‘Pimms, Strawberries & Cream' tea party.
It was a lovely sunny afternoon and residents watched the action on the courts then found a shady spot outside in our beautiful garden to tuck into our tennis themed treats. Our chef Pete also prepared homemade cakes and scones for everyone to enjoy.
We all had a chat about our favourite tennis players – everyone was very impressed with 15 year-old Cori ‘Coco’ Gauff and we had fun reminiscing about famous Wimbledon moments from the past ‘You cannot be serious’!
Resident Marie said, “I really enjoyed watching the tennis and having strawberries & cream, I can’t remember the last time I did this with all my friends.”
Magic Moments Club Coordinator Kanika said, “Nothing says summer more than enjoying Wimbledon with a nice glass of Pimms and some strawberries and cream. We all love getting together for occasions like this.”
At Hungerford we believe in living life to the full. That’s why we’re passionate about creating vibrant, stimulating activities that will help our residents to love every day. We call them ‘Magic Moments’.
Every brighterkind home now has a Magic Moments Club which provides a vast range of activities and fun things to do that are open to all of our residents. The idea behind Magic Moments is that just because someone moves into a care home doesn't mean that the things they love doing should suddenly stop – quite the contrary, we believe our residents should have the opportunity to love every day, by doing the things that they have always loved as well as trying new things along the way.
