Brampton View resident reaches target for Operation Christmas Child

After packing half a dozen last year, Brampton View resident Babs Wykes, decided that she would like to set the goal of packing 50 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child this year. Operation Christmas Child is a charity that brings joy to children around the world at Christmas by giving each child a box of toys, school supplies and toiletries. As brighterkind homes are encouraging residents to make new goals and have new experiences with their Wishing Well Project, we were very excited to support Babs achieve her goal.

Babs has been passionate about getting the home and community involved in this project. She has been knitting purses with friends at Brampton View’s Knitting group each week for months; together they knitted over 50 purses! Bookmarks and cards were made during craft sessions as well.

Friends and family have been a wonderful support and have donated items, and residents fundraised at Brampton View’s summer fete so with the money, Babs was able to shop for items at local shops.

All hands were on deck to help wrap the boxes and pack them with goodies a few weeks ago, a truly wonderful experience for all of us.

Babs was very happy to be able to help deliver the boxes to a local collection point and we are already looking forward to making even more next year!
