Residents at Meyrick Rise Care Home go head to head in this years Great Tomato Race.
This week is British Tomato Week so we have all been growing our tomato seeds. When we were planting them we decided to make it into a competition, The Great Tomato Race.
Vi’s seedling was the first to pop up, and she was very happy to take an early lead, she proudly told everyone! However, it was Ann who managed to grow the biggest plant and she couldn’t wait to show her daughter on their Skype call.
Pauline found it funny that she had been carefully watering and talking to an empty pot as her seedling never appeared! Better luck next year Pauline!
The team were also eager to take part and it was Tunde, our Home’s Administrator who obviously has the greenest fingers, as well as perfectly positioned sunny office, for her plant to grow.
The next prize will be for the first flower, so we will keep giving our plants the special attention and reap the rewards.
Resident, Pauline, said “I’ve been watering that pot every day, I did not realise there was no seed in there!”
Team member, Leanne, said “I did not realise how competitive our Residents and Staff are, and it is lovely that they have all joined in.”
