Residents of St Margaret’s Care Home celebrated their heritage for St Andrew’s Day.
We organised lots of fun activities which were all inspired by different aspects of our culture.
We kicked off the celebrations with an arts and crafts session which got our residents to design their own tartan. They did this by cutting strips of coloured card and weaving them together to create an eye-catching sett.
Next, we moved onto a highland game – Hammer Toss! Of course, we weren’t throwing real hammers, but it was still great fun and a nice way to celebrate our traditions.
After all the excitement of our morning activities, our residents relaxed and watched Disney’s Brave.
Our new resident, Alan said: “It’s been a great day and such a good way to meet everyone in the home.”
We ended the day by having a tasting quiz. We had lots of little taster portions of Scottish whiskies, gins, soft drinks, tablet and shortbread.
Team member, Michelle said: “I genuinely had so much fun, count me in for the next event!”
