Recently, we had a ‘Christmas Cake Bake off’ here at The Lawns Care Home in Oadby. We asked friends and families of the residents and the team to make a Christmas cake. The cakes were judged on presentation and taste, then after the competition the cakes were given to the residents to enjoy at tea time and coffee afternoons.
We had score sheets to mark the cake out ten - five for taste and five for presentation, the cakes were numbered so that no names were visible.
Residents enjoyed the tasting session and were quite full after trying the great selection we had. Our chef, Wayne made a fantastic holly wreath Christmas cake, which was not entered in the competition as it was being saved for Christmas day.
Our manager, Sam totted up the scores and the overall winner was our operations director, Michelle Wilson.
