“This is making me feel like a young lad again.”
Residents at Scarborough Hall Care Home have been out and about in their local town enjoying the sea air and the seafood.
We treated four of our gents; Bert, Lawrence, George and Brian to fish and chips at The Anchor Restaurant on the seafront before taking the sea air in the sunshine. Our trip out was extra special because when resident Bert first moved into our home his friends told us he wouldn’t be interested in joining in with activities and days out. The Magic Moments Club team have spent time getting to know Bert and finding out what his favourite things to do are and everyone was delighted when he agreed to join us for our trip.
Magic Moments Club Coordinator Leanne said “Seeing Bert having so much fun was just wonderful. Sometimes the simple things in life can bring the most joy and our ‘friendship and fish and chips’ outing was just perfect.”
Bert made everyone’s day when he said “This is making me feel like a young lad again.”
After lunch we enjoyed a stroll around town and when Lawrence spotted a fishing shop he went in and had a great time talking tackle with the owner – another new friend made over a shared love of fishing.
At Scarborough Hall we believe in living life to the full. That’s why we’re passionate about creating vibrant, stimulating activities that will help our residents to love every day. We call them ‘Magic Moments’.
Every brighterkind home now has a Magic Moments Club which provides a vast range of activities and fun things to do that are open to all of our residents. The idea behind Magic Moments is that just because someone moves into a care home doesn't mean that the things they love doing should suddenly stop – quite the contrary, we believe our residents should have the opportunity to love every day, by doing the things that they have always loved as well as trying new things along the way.
