On 28th November residents at brighterkind’s The Branksome Care Home in Buxton enjoyed a trip out to Chatsworth Christmas Market.

Chatsworth House is a stately home in Derbyshire. The seat of the Duke of Devonshire, it has been home to the Cavendish family since 1549. The annual Christmas Market is extremely popular with over 100 stalls offering a wide range of Christmas gifts and decorations.

We had a great day sampling the festive food and drink and soaking up the marvellous Christmas atmosphere. Despite the odd rain shower it was all smiles and laughter as we kept warm with some very tasty mulled wine. It was an especially nice treat for resident Carol as it was a complete surprise when her granddaughter Rosie came along to join us for the trip.

James Taylor, Magic Moments Club Coordinator said “Rain could not dampen our spirits as we enjoyed a truly fun day at Chatsworth. The sights, sounds and smells at the market made us all feel very festive indeed.”

At The Branksome Care Home we believe in living life to the full. That’s why we’re passionate about creating vibrant, stimulating activities that will help our residents to love every day. We call them ‘Magic Moments’.

Every brighterkind home now has a Magic Moments Club which provides a vast range of activities and fun things to do that are open to all of our residents. The idea behind Magic Moments is that just because someone moves into a care home doesn't mean that the things they love doing should suddenly stop – quite the contrary, we believe our residents should have the opportunity to love every day, by doing the things that they have always loved as well as trying new things along the way.
