"They completely appreciate and understand the value of music for their residents and are always keen to learn more about how to incorporate music into day-to-day care."
Musica is a music and health social enterprise with a clear objective to harmonise healthcare by embedding music into the dementia care plan journey. Musica is built on the values of creativity, connection and collaboration.
Having worked with Musica for many years, we have been recognised by their new achievement award, Care Home of the Month. It has been created by Musica to celebrate the excellent person-centred work that is happening day-in-and-day-out in the care sector.
They are championing Care Homes who go above and beyond to create a harmonious, person and relationship-centred environment for their residents, families, carers, and staff, and truly believe in the wellbeing benefits of music, for those living with (and without) dementia.
Care homes are nominated on a monthly basis by Musica Coordinators and then judged by the Musica Board of Directors, who look at everything from engagement to celebrating the individuality of people living with dementia.
The team received a nomination from Co-ordinators Frankie and Karen, who gave a statement on why they are such worthy winners:
"Frankie has been visiting Westbury Court for over 7 years. The Activity Coordinators are always keen and enthusiastic. They completely appreciate and understand the value of music for their residents and are always keen to learn more about how to incorporate music into day-to-day care. It's always a pleasure to visit this lovely home and we look forward to working with the residents and team at Westbury Court for many years to come."
Karen Owen, Musica Co-ordinator come to the home to present Magic Moments Club Co-ordinators Linda and Suzanne with the award.
Congratulations to all at Westbury Court for such fantastic work!
