“We were all thrilled to receive such wonderful gifts of friendship; this has brought so much joy to our residents”
Today is World Friendship Day and here at Emberbrook Care Home we’ve been busy making adorable paper hedgehogs to send to our friends at fellow brighterkind home, Kingston Care Home, to mark the occasion.
At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, we launched a Postcard Pals initiative and members of our community sent in pictures and letters to help keep our residents cheery and connected. Now we are sending ‘Hello’ postcards to residents at our sister homes to make new friends and find shared interests and connections to local places.
Our Magic Moments Club Coordinator Sally thought it would be nice to celebrate World Friendship Day by sending some gifts to accompany our postcards, so we enjoyed a craft activity making hedgehogs out of old paperback books. We simply folded the pages and then decorated them with eyes, pompom noses, colourful bows and even spectacles!
Over at Kingston Care Home there was much excitement as residents opened their cards and gifts this morning. Magic Moments Club Coordinator Csilla said, “We were all thrilled to receive such wonderful gifts of friendship. We love hearing all the news from our friends at Emberbrook and this has brought so much joy to our residents.”
At brighterkind care homes we believe in living life to the full. That’s why we’re passionate about creating vibrant, stimulating activities that will help our residents to love every day. We call them ‘Magic Moments’.
Every brighterkind home now has a Magic Moments Club which provides a vast range of activities and fun things to do that are open to all of our residents.
The idea behind Magic Moments is that just because someone moves into a care home doesn't mean that the things they love doing should suddenly stop – quite the contrary, we believe our residents should have the opportunity to love every day, by doing the things that they have always loved as well as trying new things along the way.
