Residents Elsie McKay and Margaret How who live at Henleigh Hall Care Home in Beauchief are huge fans of musicals and love nothing more than a good old sing-a-long so we decided to treat them to an afternoon of musical theatre as part of our Wishing Well programme.
On 3rd November, the ladies, accompanied by Elsie’s daughter Alison and Margaret’s husband Terry, and team members Jeannette and Cintia, set off for Lees Hall Golf Club in Sheffield to see The Sound of Woodseats Musical Theatre Company’s latest production.
The show was a celebration of music and songs from the stage and screen and featured numbers from ‘Footloose’, ‘Anything Goes’ and ‘The Greatest Showman’ to name but a few.
Cintia Kiss, Magic Moments Club Assistant said “We all had such a lovely time singing our hearts out! Margaret and Elsie had a smile on their faces all afternoon and they were delighted that they were able to meet and have a chat with some of the performers after the show.”
Terry, Margaret’s husband said “Wow. What a great show! It was so enjoyable and well put together and it really was lovely seeing Margaret have such a nice time. It made me very nostalgic as when we were younger we would often go and see musicals together.”
brighterkind runs their Wishing Well programme in all of its 70 care homes. Residents are encouraged to make a wish to experience something new or revisit an activity or place they’ve enjoyed in the past and our Magic Moments Club Team arrange for it to happen. Our Magic Moments Clubs provide a vast range of vibrant, stimulating activities that help our residents to love every day. Just because someone moves into a care home doesn't mean that the things they love doing should suddenly stop – quite the contrary, we believe our residents should have the opportunity to do the things that they have always loved as well as trying new things along the way.
