A novel surprise for our bookworm Betty!

Westbury Court Care Home, Wiltshire-Resident Betty with her new books

Westbury Court Care Home resident Betty is a real bookworm and has just finished the complete set of books by one of her favourite authors, Dily Court. Betty was enthralled by the nostalgic stories starring plucky heroines and didn’t think any other books could live up to them.

Luckily, we discovered that Dily Court also writes under the name of Lily Baxter and Magic Moments Club Coordinator Suzanne thought she would surprise Betty as part of our home’s Wishing Well programme. She managed to track down the complete set of wartime romance sagas written by the author and presented them to Betty.

A thrilled Betty said “What a lovely surprise, I’m so looking forward to reading them all.”

Suzanne said “It was such a pleasure to give Betty the books, she is an avid reader and these should keep her going for quite a while!”

brighterkind runs their Wishing Well programme in all of its 70 care homes. Residents are encouraged to make a wish to experience something new or revisit an activity or place they’ve enjoyed in the past and our Magic Moments Club Team arrange for it to happen. Our Magic Moments Clubs provide a vast range of vibrant, stimulating activities that help our residents to love every day. Just because someone moves into a care home doesn't mean that the things they love doing should suddenly stop – quite the contrary, we believe our residents should have the opportunity to do the things that they have always loved as well as trying new things along the way.
