Ivybank House Care Home made a wish come true by surprising a resident with a very special item from their past.
Our resident Maya has always been a keen seamstress and learnt to sew on a Singer sewing machine, which she loved and used throughout her sewing career.
Maya owned her own shop selling her handmade clothes and curtain. She would also do alterations for family and friends as she was known for being very talented.
Since moving into our home, Maya has continued to enjoy her passion by helping to run our sewing group. Although she has always missed using her Singer sewing machine.
As part of Maya’s Wishing Well, we managed to track down a Singer and she was delighted to be reunited with her beloved machine. We had a fantastic afternoon as Maya showed us how to use the machine and it was like it was only yesterday since she last used it.
