“What a wonderful day. It’s brought back so many memories of a happy time”
The Magic Moments Club team at Wheaton Aston Court Care Home have made a wish come true for resident Eileen with a day out riding a steam train on The Severn Valley Railway.
Eileen and her late husband used to love travelling on the steam trains together and the trip was arranged for what would have been their 65th Wedding Anniversary.
Eileen was joined by her three daughters as they boarded the train at Bridgnorth and travelled the 16 miles along the beautiful Severn Valley to Kidderminster. On arrival they all tucked into fish and chips for lunch just like Eileen and her husband used to do.
Eileen said “What a wonderful day. It’s brought back so many memories of a happy time.”
Magic Moments Club Coordinator Tracy said “Eileen had a great time on her special day and it was lovely to see her and her daughters enjoying the experience together.”
brighterkind runs their Wishing Well programme in all of its care homes. Residents are encouraged to make a wish to experience something new or revisit an activity or place they’ve enjoyed in the past and our Magic Moments Club Team arrange for it to happen. Our Magic Moments Clubs provide a vast range of vibrant, stimulating activities that help our residents to love every day. Just because someone moves into a care home doesn't mean that the things they love doing should suddenly stop – quite the contrary, we believe our residents should have the opportunity to do the things that they have always loved as well as trying new things along the way.
Wheaton Aston Court Care Home is located in Stafford, Staffordshire and provides residential care, nursing care, palliative care and respite care.
