“Look at the size of its feet, oh this is the best trip ever!”
The Magic Moments Club team at Buchanan House Care Home love making resident’s wishes come true as part of our Wishing Well programme so when resident Christopher made a wish to see a dinosaur they weren't in the least bit fazed!
Dippy the dinosaur, the 70ft-long replica of a Diplodocus skeleton who is usually housed at London’s Natural History Museum is on tour and was residing at The Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow for a short spell.
We decided to take Christopher and some of his fellow residents to meet Dippy at his temporary home before being dismantled and sent on his way to his next destination in Newcastle.
Christopher had an amazing trip out, not only seeing his incredible dinosaur but also another rare chance to view the Leonardo da Vinci drawings which have been lent to the gallery by HM The Queen from her Royal Collection.
Magic Moments Club Coordinator Geraldine said “What a fantastic day out. It was so rewarding to see our residents in awe of the dinosaur and the other rare pieces of art on show at our local gallery.”
A very happy Christopher said “Look at the size of its feet, oh this is the best trip ever!”
brighterkind runs their Wishing Well programme in all of its 70 care homes. Residents are encouraged to make a wish to experience something new or revisit an activity or place they’ve enjoyed in the past and our Magic Moments Club Team arrange for it to happen. Our Magic Moments Clubs provide a vast range of vibrant, stimulating activities that help our residents to love every day. Just because someone moves into a care home doesn't mean that the things they love doing should suddenly stop – quite the contrary, we believe our residents should have the opportunity to do the things that they have always loved as well as trying new things along the way.
