The team at Westbury Court Care Home have recently arranged a trip out for residents Mary and Arthur who fancied visiting a garden centre to see all the Christmas decorations now that the festive season is fast approaching.
Mary and Arthur wanted to take the trip together as they share a love for gardening so we arranged the Oomph! minibus to transport them to Dobbies Garden Centre at Shepton Mallet. It was a lovely drive through scenic countryside which Mary and Arthur said was a nice added bonus!
When we arrived we looked around all the plants and gardening gadgets which was really fun and then started to explore all the Christmas decorations and made a few purchases before making our way to the café for a delicious meal and a nice cup of tea.
We all had a wonderful time and the whole day was full of smiles and laughs as Mary and Arthur both thoroughly enjoyed their day out.
Magic Moments Club Coordinator, Suzanne, said “Mary and Arthur keep saying what a lovely day they both had and that seeing all the Christmas decorations made them feel really festive.”
brighterkind runs their Wishing Well programme in all of its 70 care homes. Residents are encouraged to make a wish to experience something new or revisit an activity or place they’ve enjoyed in the past and our Magic Moments Club Team arrange for it to happen. Our Magic Moments Clubs provide a vast range of vibrant, stimulating activities that help our residents to love every day. Just because someone moves into a care home doesn't mean that the things they love doing should suddenly stop – quite the contrary, we believe our residents should have the opportunity to do the things that they have always loved as well as trying new things along the way.
