This February, as part of our Wishing Well programme, brighterkind’s Clarence Court Care Home in Glasgow arranged a trip out for our resident Peter who is a huge fan of classic cars.
Peter’s father used to sell classic cars as well as drive his own and when Peter grew up he shared his father’s passion and used to love driving his Jaguar around the country lanes of Killearn with his partner Nan.
Our Magic Moments Club Coordinator Steven thought that Peter would enjoy a visit to Bo’ness Motor Museum in Falkirk, so accompanied by our driver Ed, the gents set off for a trip down memory lane.
The museum houses a fantastic collection of classic cars including some famous ones from the James Bond and Harry Potter films. As well as 007’s BMW 750 which was used in the film ‘Tomorrow Never Dies’ Peter enjoyed exploring the museum’s other classic vehicles ranging from a Baby Austin A30 to a Grand Tourer Aston Martin.
Steven said “Peter was absolutely delighted with his trip out, it was like a little bit of heaven, although I’m sure he would have loved it even more if he could have jumped in and driven one!”
brighterkind runs their Wishing Well programme in all of its 70 care homes. Residents are encouraged to make a wish to experience something new or revisit an activity or place they’ve enjoyed in the past and our Magic Moments Club Team arrange for it to happen. Our Magic Moments Clubs provide a vast range of vibrant, stimulating activities that help our residents to love every day. Just because someone moves into a care home doesn't mean that the things they love doing should suddenly stop – quite the contrary, we believe our residents should have the opportunity to do the things that they have always loved as well as trying new things along the way.
