Meet our Home Manager

The best in the businessour home manager

All our brighterkind Home Managers are highly qualified and extremely experienced. At Uplands Care Home we have one of the best in the business.

Name of Home Manager

Catherine Ogbogu-Sang

What is one thing do you enjoy most about your job?

I love that not every day is the same, which matches my personality. I feel blessed going to work knowing that my residents chose my home for their person-centred care and therefore I want to provide the best care and push quality in all areas of Uplands. I want Uplands to be enjoyed by both residents and my team. Coming to work should be fun and if we are all on the same page, we can achieve our goals together.

What are your hobbies and pastimes?

I love the outdoors, reading and music. I’m a huge fan of Mozart and music therapy helps me relax and unwind after a long day. I also love dancing and singing, you can find me at the front of the room in all our home karaoke sessions making the residents laugh (I’m still not sure if they are laughing with me or at me, at least I have them all laughing!)

Key qualifications and experience:

I have a bachelor’s of science and I like to think I have a vibrant personality and enjoy doing many different things. I have experience working in the hospital, the community, with mental health, with paediatricians and I have now found my passion working in Care Homes.

Are there any highlights in your career you are particularly proud of?

I am particularly proud of the way we dealt with the Covid situation in our home; it was a time when we had to stay strong and put in all our efforts. Before being a Home Manager, I am a care assistant and a nurse, my priority was to keep both my team and my residents safe physically and mentally. During this time, I found a strength within myself that I didn’t know existed, I kept a glass-half-full attitude and didn’t give up!

What top tips would you give to someone looking for a care home?

My top tip would be to make sure you look at websites such as before making your decision, as this is where service users including family members can leave their honest opinions. For example, if you and I go out to eat and you pick a restaurant, as you are talking I’ll be googling the reviews as in the world we live in today everyone is leaving their opinions all over the web and that’s the best place to go for an honest review of a service.
